where can I get a good free compiler because my computer broke and lost my other one

Your timing is perfect. The next video I'm planning on doing is a VS 2008 Express download. If you don't want to wait, here's a link for you:

I expect that you will probably want 2008 instead of 2005. We put that link up when 2008 was still in beta, but we are updating that info now. Of course, all of these are free.

If you don't have the time, or memory to install Visual Studio, I would like to make recommendations!

If you're a complete beginner, I'd suggest using Dev-C++.

The other option would be an IDE called Code::Blocks. I personally love this one, and it's free.

Even though Visual Studio is the best IDE, it tends to be a little complicated; I suggest only using it if you're a more advanced programmer.

Another thing i found out about VC 2008 is that it is free for the first 35 days or so.

The trial versions are of higher editions, but the VC 2008 Express Edition is free forever and it should do pretty much anything you want except some MS specific technologies. You can even program Win32 applications with it.
