Okay well, I don't really know what to call them at the moment, but I took a screenshot of my IDE.



In case that's hard to see: here.

I mistakenly hit some random keys and I have no clue which ones, but it made these display. I probably didn't try too hard to figure it out, but I figure someone here knows what it is and how to get rid of it. If you could help with this, it will be much appreciated.

Looks like you just hit the Tab key while in your text file. You probably have hidden characters (returns, tabs, etc.) showing. This option is probably selected in Visual Studio:

Edit > Advanced > View White Space

Just click it again to unselect it and your hidden characters will disappear again.

Ah, hidden characters. That's the name I was looking for, I knew it'd be simple. Thanks so much.
